ABOUT SHOREPARK COTTAGESaveSave
Picturesque Glencaple, with its old quayside on the tidal estuary of the River Nith, together with nearby Kingholm Quay, was the main seaport for the town of Dumfries back in sailing-ship days.
For those not travelling by car or motorcycle, there is a railway station at Dumfries, five miles away, from which Glencaple can be reached by bus or taxi.
Only 5 miles from the amenities of Dumfries, it is a charming and peaceful place, and is an ideal base from which to explore Dumfries & Galloway, which is a beautiful, remarkably uncrowded and unspoiled part of Scotland.
Shorepark Cottage on the edge of Glencaple village sleeps up to 6 people very comfortably in three bedrooms. (Small extra charge for groups over 4.) It has a fascinating character: modern in the newer part, but with an older feel in the original 18th century part.
An outstanding feature is the stunning view from the lounge over the River Nith and the landscape beyond, and including views of the rich birdlife in the area.
